Whispers Beyond Reach

Vishal woke up, his hand pressed against his forehead in pain, slowly regaining consciousness. Memories of the car accident flooded his mind, and he found himself in a small clinic, disoriented and anxious to locate his wife, Priya, and their child, Karuna. Glancing out of the window, he noticed villagers gathered around a bonfire, burning wood that resembled a cremation. A surge of anguish overcame him as he feared the worst – the loss of his beloved family.

Overwhelmed by sorrow, Vishal rushed out of the clinic, tears streaming down his face. Determined to find Priya and Karuna, he pushed through the crowd, making his way towards the cremation site. As he approached, his heart sank, and he realized that it was indeed a cremation taking place. Vishal's throat tightened with grief, and he felt a heaviness in his legs, slowing his movements as he contemplated the devastating possibility of losing his wife and child. Suddenly, amidst the crowd, Vishal heard a familiar voice – the voice of his child, Karuna, asking, "Mama, where did appa go?" His heart skipped a beat, and a glimmer of hope flickered within him. He strained his ears, and there it was again – Priya's voice, filled with anguish and crying. The sound of his family's voices resonated through him, igniting a mix of joy and desperation. With newfound determination, Vishal called out to his wife and child, his voice filled with happiness and longing. But to his dismay, they didn't seem to hear him. Undeterred, he pushed through the crowd, attempting to make his way towards them, but an invisible barrier prevented him from touching anyone.
